Prof. Zhang Tong from the College gave a lecture entitled the Interpretation of the Legislation and Norms of Personal Information Protection in Our Country at the invitation of the Forum on the Frontiers of Law, hosted by the Law School of China University of Labor Relations, on the evening of 3 Nov, 2020.
Deputy Dean of the School Prof. Xiao Zhu moderated the lecture. Dr. Li Jing and Dr. Ding Wanjing, lecturers of the Department of Civil and Commercial Economic Law of the School, participated in the discussion. The lecture was also held live on Tencent Meeting with nearly 100 law school teacher and student audiences.
In the lecture, Zhang Tong introduced and sorted out the legislative background and rule system of personal information protection in China. Combined with the personal information protection provisions in the personal right compilation of the Civil Code, Zhang interpreted the connotation and denotation of personal information, and distinguished the related concepts of personal information and private information, privacy and personal data. She also explained the rights and obligations of the subject of personal information, the right to claim personal rights and the right to claim tort liability when personal information rights are infringed.
At last, Zhang Tong and the two interlocutors exchanged their views and patiently answered the relevant questions raised by the students. Her lecture provided the teachers and students with a new perspective to understand and learn about personal information protection, and received a warm welcome and positive response.
