The application for the 'Erasmus+Jean Monnet Chair', presided over by Prof. Zhang Tong, Director of the Centre for China-European/EU Legal Studies, was successfully approved in September 2020.
The application for the Jean Monnet Chair programme, hosted by Prof. Zhang Tong, is the second successful project supported by the European Commission after applying for the 'European Module' project in 2011 and the 'Jean Monnet Chair' project in 2015. The programme team members include A/Prof. Zhang Xuezhe, A/Prof. Xu Yan, A/Prof. Zhang Nan and Dr. Jiang Feng'an from the College of Comparative Law, Prof. Zhang Shujing from the School of Business, A/Prof. Jin Jing from the School of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law, Prof. Reiner Schulze from the University of Münster, Prof. Thomas Moellers from the University of Augsburg, Prof. Reinhard Singer from the Humboldt University of Berlin and Prof. Andre Janssen from the University of Radboud in the Netherlands.
During the programme implementation period from September 2020 to August 2023, Prof. Zhang's team will focus on the Legal Challenges and Its Legislative Response in the Digitalisation of Europe: a Reference to China. The main tasks of this topic are as follows: 1) to further develop the new curriculum of EU law, so that the original curriculum system of EU law at CUPL will be more complete and distinctive; 2)to further expand the channels of academic cooperation, host relevant academic activities, and strengthen cooperation and exchanges with relevant institutions and practical departments at home and abroad; 3)to further strengthen the scientific rsearch activities between China and Europe and produce high-level academic results.
