Director of the EU Law Institute Prof. Zhang Tong recently won funding from E.U Jean Monnet Programme again after successfully applied for this programme and accomplished it since year 2011.
According to the Department of Education and Culture of the E.U. Committee on 29 July, there were 611 programmes completing this year, out of which 129 programmes passed after the E.U. Review Committee's strict assessing procedures. The passing rate was about 20%. Zhang Tong's programme gained 89/100.
She also won the title of Jean Monnet Chair Professor due to her outstanding academic achievements on the integration of the Europe and the teaching and research of European law. So far, Zhang is one of the only two law scholars who have been awarded this distinguish title in China. Zhang is one of the earliest scholars who have been working on the E.U. law teaching and research. Her main research field is legal regionalization and European private law unification.
The executive period of this programme is from 1 Sept, 2015 to 31 Aug, 2018. It is mainly to boost teaching, research and international cooperation and exchange on the European integration and the EU law. Team members include A/Prof. Zhang Xuezhe and A/Prof. Xu Yan from the College of Comparative Law, Prof. Zhang Shujing from Business School, A/Prof. Lan Hua from School of International Law, Prof. Reiner Schulze from Minster University and Prof. Thomas Moellers from Augsburg University.
