The book Consumer Protection in a Digital Economy (Verbraucherschutz in der digitale Wirtschaft), edited by Prof. Reinhard Singer and Prof. Zhang Tong, was published by the Berliner Wissenschafts-Verlag in June 2021.
It includes 14 papers by Chinese and European scholars in English and German, the range of topics corresponds to the variety of possible applications of digital processes and the associated legal issues as well as regulatory needs, especially for the protection of consumers, issues such as the legal framework of private-sector social scoring in GDPR from a German and European perspective, data portability in Chinese law in comparison with EU law, responsibility for the conclusion of contracts on digital platforms,etc. are discussed. The book was published in Germany with the aim of strengthening the two-way understanding of European and Chinese academic research. The comparative research methods used in these papers not only enable Chinese scholars to learn from European law, but also enable European scholars to understand the development of Chinese law.
