The China-Japan Law Institute, founded in 2021, is a part of College of Comparative Law, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). The first director of the Institute is Prof. Simon (Xiankui) Mou.
The Institute was divided from the Institute of Comparative Law of the College by the promotion of Professor PAN Handian and other outstanding scholars who had made important contribution to the studies of Sino-Japanese comparative law. The Institute provides LL.M. program for graduates who majored in law, and also for graduates who used to major in Japanese literature since 2021.
In the field of legal education, the Institute offers a wide variety of courses on Japanese law in conjunction with Japanese law experts from CUPL.
In the field of academic studies, the Institute is establishing wide-rage cooperative relations with foreign universities, building a Japanese law library, and jointly running law journals to share Chinese ideas on legal studies and rule of law.
In the field of social services, the Institute is widely cooperating with domestic and foreign universities, institutes and law societies to improve Sino-Japanese communication in legal matters and play a role of think tank.
