The Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China–Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum was held in Beijing and President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech on 13 May. On the eve of the meeting and during the event, Associate Professor Pan Deng from the College was interviewed by Russia Today (RT), offering insights into the remarkable progress in China-Latin America relations over the past decade. He also commented on the shared interests of both sides in global economic governance and shared his views on how China and Latin American countries can jointly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, while playing a greater role in international and regional affairs.

From the afternoon of 13 May to the morning of 14 May Moscow time, RT Spanish broadcasted segments of the interview in multiple time slots during its hourly news programmes. Parts of the interview were also distributed through RT’s official website and social media platforms.
