The Leitner Family Professor of International Law and Director of Graduate and International Studies at Fordham Law School Mr. Thomas H. Lee gave a lecture to the students of the College of Comparative Law on Xueyuanlu campus on the morning of 18 March, 2014. Associate Dean of the College Prof. Lin Lin moderated the lecture, Dean of Fordham Law School Prof. Michael Martin and Associate Dean Prof. Toni Fine attended it.
Prof. Lee teaches and writes in the fields of civil procedure, international arbitration and litigation. He has been a visiting professor at several law schools like Harvard and Columbia, who is also experienced in the U.S. court system.
Lee first introduced the general situation of class action by setting examples like Wal-Mart employee gender discrimination case and famous tobacco campaign case. Then he analyzed the features of class action. He explained the reason why lawyers dominates in class action by telling the differences of the U.S and the U.K. lawyers' pay, which also provided the students with more information on their career choices. At last, Lee analyzed the two cases mentioned earlier in detail, and led the students to raise question and get involved in interaction.
