Professor Zhang Hengshan, PhD Supervisor of Party School of the Central Committee of CPC and well-known legal theorist, was invited to make a report on Transformation of Civilization and World Law Reform on Xueyuanlu Campus on the evening of 14 May, 2016.
Director of Institute of Comparative Law Prof. Wang Zhihua moderated the lecture. Director of Institute of European Law Prof. Zhang Tong and Lecturer Zhu Mingzhe from Institute of Comparative Law presented commentary. This lecture launched the Comparative Law Serial Lectures.
Prof. Zhang Hengshan mainly talked about the relationship between the transformation from agricultural civilization to business and industry civilization and the change of worldwide legal system. He first reviewed the society and law situation from Roma to west Europe in the Middle Ages. Then, he explored the legal reform during the initial stage of business and industry civilization. Last, Prof. Zhang introduced the further development of law in business and industry civilization during year 1850 to 1970.
During the Q&A section, Prof. Zhang Hengshan and the audiences had a nice interaction. Apart from CUPL students, the lecture also attracted audiences from People's Public Security University of China, East China Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law and Shanghai Normal University.
