Former President of the East China University of Political Science and Law & Ph.D Supervisor Professor He Qinhua was invited to give a lecture on the Rule of Law is the Inevitable Approach to the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation on Xueyuanlu campus on the evening of 27 June, 2016.

Dean of the College Prof. Gao Xiang moderated the lecture, Dean of the Graduate School Prof. Li Shuguang and Director of Institute of Comparative Law Prof. Wang Zhihua provided comments. This lecture was also the third one of the Comparative Law Lecture Series held by the College. It attracted over 100 audiences.

Prof. He is a well-known expert of law who owns fruitful academic achievements. In this lecture, he introduced the origin and development of the rule of law in terms of four aspects: 1) the rule of law is Chinese nation’s enhancing and glorifying of human’s legal civilization essence; 2) the rule of law is the summary of the historical experience of new China’s legal construction; 3) the rapid progress of the rule of law since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee; and 4) summary and introspection of new China’s legal construction.

Then, Prof. He analyzed and summarized the course, achievement and problems of new China’s legal construction. He put forward three proposals: 1) we should value, fear and believe in law; 2) it is easy to rule by man but not to rule by law; and 3) to realize the rule of law, we must start with conducting the idea with governmental officials, governments, the central government and the heads of them.
