Xie Zhiyong attends Symposium on Sino-Japanese Common Law and visits Tokyo University & Waseda University

Prof. Xie Zhiyong, Dean of the College & Director of Health Law Research Center, attended the Fifteenth Symposium on the Sino-Japanese Common Law at the invitation of the Shimane University in Japan on 9-10 Nov, 2019.

Xie Zhiyong presented his paper on the Construction Thoughts and Principles on China’s Health Law System on the conference. He analyzed the sources and operational effects of China’s health law, summarized the shortages and improvements of the current health law legal system and illustrated the fundamental principles of health law and its reasons and connotations on the basis of the two previously built points.

Over a hundred scholars from China and Japan participated in this symposium and exchanged opinions on several edge-cutting issues in common law.

During this trip, Xie Zhiyong visited the Law School of Waseda University and met with its Dean Prof. Takashi Hakoi, Associate Dean & Director of it Institute of Comparative Law Prof. Tamio Nakamura, common law experts Prof. Masanori Okada and Prof. Kouji Tonami on 11 November. The two parties held a work meeting and exchanged opinions on the cooperation on student exchange, faculty exchange and discipline development.

Xie Zhiyong also visited the Tokyo University and met with its Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Yutaka Osawa, common law experts Prof. George Shishido and Prof. Shinji Kojima the second day. Xie Zhiyong introduced the College’s teaching faculty construction, student training and international exchange and Dean Yutaka Osawa introduced that of the Faculty. The two parties came to an agreement on the academic cooperation in common law and comparative law and the all-round exchange between teaching faculty and students.

This visit to Japan is very important for the College, for its implementation of the internationalization scheme, the cooperation between China and Japan in comparative law and the enhancement to the international influence and competitiveness.
