The delegation of Legal Committee on Marriage and Family Law of the Beijing Lawyers Association, including its Director Sun Changgang, Secretary-General Ding Tao and Deputy Secretary-General Zheng Chunjie and other seven members, visited the Research Centre for Ascertainment of Foreign Law of CUPL on Xueyuanlu Campus on the morning of 29 March, 2019.
Dean of the College of Comparative Law Prof. Xie Zhiyong met with the dignitaries on Xueyuanlu Campus and held an exchange meeting. The meeting was moderated by the Director of the Centre Prof. Gao Xiang from the College. A/Prof. Che Hu, A/Prof. Zhang Xuezhe, A/Prof. Pan Deng, A/Prof. Yuan Jie and Dr. Zhang Nan, members of the College faculty who participated in the work of the Centre, attended the meeting.
Xie Zhiyong first extended warm welcome to the delegation. He said that the College had made full use of its talent and resources in the field of foreign law research, while integrating domestic research in private international law, foreign legal systems and judicial theory, and that it has been commissioned by several People's Court at various levels to solve the problem of the application of law in the trials of many foreign-related civil and commercial cases.
Sun Changgang said that many practical issues in the legal field, such as foreign marriage, family affairs, wealth and other cases, have an urgent need for foreign law ascertainment. He hoped to build an exchange platform with the Centre and carry out various forms of cooperation, such as co-hosting relevant subject salons, lectures, accepting of College students intern at their law firms.
Later, the two parties discussed in-depth on issues focusing on foreign law investigation, co-research on theoretical and practical projects, co-establishing student internship base, and reached an agreement.
The two sides had a heated discussion on the relevant theoretical and practical issues on foreign law ascertainment, exchanged views and reached a cooperative intention.
