Prof. Andre Janssen from Muenster University European Private Law gave alecture on Introduction to the New Development of European Private Law to thestudents on Xueyuanlu Campus on the afternnoon of 28 May, 2014. This lecture isthe 9th one of Jean Monnet Programme, moderated by Prof. Zhang Tong from theEuropean Law Institute of the College of Comparative Law. Dr. Jin Jing from LawSchool at China Youth University of Political Studies attended this event.
As the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Janssen introduced the formation ofthe theory of European private law, source of law and its influence on otherschengen countries' private law. Later, Prof. Janssen analyzed the developmentof the EU Consumer Law and Contract Law, which was caused by the coordinationand unification of European private law. He particually put stress on thecomposition and features of European Private Law: Draft Common Frame ofReference. In the end, Prof. Janssen specificallyintroduced the content and significance of the book Common European BusinessLaw as the latest achievement from the development of European private law.
After the Q&A section, Prof. Janssen spoke highly of the CCL studentsfor their accumulation of professional European law knowledge and proficientEnglish/German language ability.
