Xie Zhiyong and Mou Xiankui visit Waseda University

Dean of the College Prof. Xie Zhiyong and Director of the China-Japan Law Institute of the College Prof. Mou Xiankui visited the Waseda University at the invitation and conducted academic exchanges in Tokyo, Japan on 15-18 April, 2025.


At the Institute of Comparative Law of Waseda University, Xie Zhiyong met with its Director Prof. Tatsuhiro Ueno, Officer Prof. Yusuke Tanemura, and former director Prof. Masanori Okada. Xie thanked the institute for its contribution to promoting the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities in the field of law, and introduced the situation of undergraduate education, postgraduate training and academic exchanges in the College.



Director Ueno welcomed the delegation and presented the latest developments in the Institute's academic research and international exchanges. The two sides agreed to further expand substantive cooperation in student training, teaching faculty exchanges and academic research, and exchanged views on the content and form of the cooperation agreement.


During the visit, Xie gave a lecture on the System Construction of Digital Law for master and doctoral students in the Law Research Department of the Waseda University. Starting from the rise of digital law in the context of digital civilisation, the report expounded the basic category and content system of Digital Law, and focused on the significance of the construction of digital law system, analysed the challenges and countermeasures. Mou Xiankui also made an academic report on the Theory and Practice of Data Trust.



Former Dean of the Academy of Waseda University Law Prof. Koji Ohmi, Prof. Noriyuki Aoki, Prof. Masaaki Yamaguchi, Prof. Kenji Shimoyama and Okada attended the lectures and discussed the frontier topics and cooperative research of Sino-Japanese Digital Law.


This visit was of great significance to the implementation of the internationalisation strategy of the College, which would help to promote the Sino-Japanese cooperation in law and further enhance the overseas influence and international competitiveness of the University.
