In order to promote the reform and innovation of the training mode of foreign-related rule of law talents and deepen the cooperation between the University and local governments, Chair of the College Council Gu Yongqiang led a team to carry out special survey in many units in Guangdong province and conducted in-depth research and exchanges on the joint training of foreign-related rule of law talents, the construction of practice bases, and the integration of production and education from 14 to 15 Jan, 2025.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Sino-Italian Law and Roman Law Xu Jianbo, Secretary of the College Youth League Committee & Student Tutor Yang Mingquan, Student Tutor Zhou Fangzheng, as well as Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of International Law of the University Gao Wenjia and its Foreign Affairs Officer Li Shilong accompanied the research.

On the afternoon of 14 January, the delegation’s first stop was the Guangdong Kingbridge Law Firm. Director of the firm Zhu Zhiqun delivered a speech and introduced the development of the firm's foreign-related legal business. Gu Yongqiang elaborated on the disciplinary advantages and innovative practice of the University in the field of foreign-related rule of law personnel training. At the meeting, the two sides focused on issues such as ‘improving the ability and quality of high-end foreign-related rule of law talents’, ‘research on frontier issues of foreign-related rule of law”, and ‘optimising the university-enterprise cooperative education mechanism’, and reached a consensus on high-quality student internship and employment and joint research projects. In the next step, the two sides would use the practice base as a link to deepen resource sharing and enhance the practice of serving the country's foreign-related rule of law. After the meeting, the two sides held an inaugural ceremony for the China University of Political Science and Law Practical Teaching Base.

On the morning of 15 January, the team went to the Provincial Office of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee on the Rule of Law and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Justice to hold a symposium. Leading officials from the provincial Party Committee, the provincial Judicial Department, the provincial Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the provincial High People's Court and the provincial People's Procuratorate participated in the exchanges. The conference conducted in-depth discussions on such core topics as ‘the establishment of foreign-related rule of law talent team’, ‘the development trend and coping strategies of foreign-related cases’ and ‘the frontier issues of foreign-related rule of law practice’. Huang Ting, Head of the Foreign-Related Rule of Law Talents Work Group at the provincial Department of Justice, pointed out that Guangdong, as an open frontier, urgently needs high-end rule of law talents with both international vision and practical ability. She looked forward to deepening cooperation with the University in areas such as talent transfer and research projects. The two sides also exchanged views on the participation of alumni in the establishment of the rule of law in Guangdong and the co-construction of a foreign-related legal service platform, further clarifying the direction of university-local collaboration.

On the afternoon of 15 January, the research team went to the Nansha New Area People's Court (Nansha District People's Court of Guangdong Free Trade Area) for the survey. Peng Jianhua, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group & President of the Court, introduced the practical experience and typical cases of foreign-related trials in the Nansha Free Trade Zone. According to the characteristics of the College, Gu put forward some suggestions on cooperation such as co-construction of the mechanism for ascertaining foreign laws. Xu looked forward to sending students to participate in the front-line practice of foreign-related rule of law. At the symposium, the two sides also discussed the cultivation of the core competence of foreign-related talents in the rule of law and the innovation of the joint training mode between the University and the Court. They agreed on promoting the deep integration of legal education and judicial practice through practical training, expert exchanges, joint research and other forms. After the meeting, the two sides jointly held an inaugural ceremony for the Foreign Rule of Law Practical Teaching Base.

This survey, through on-the-spot visits, discussion and contract signing, effectively built a bridge for collaborative education between the University and substantive departments. It laid a solid foundation for the College to further optimise the training system of foreign-related rule of law talents and serve the national strategic needs.
